Description
Tom Ford Black Orchid is a statement fragrance, no doubt about that. It takes a confident man, woman or cat to wear it. It’s one of the most deliciously dirty gourmands that will have many running away and many screaming for more. I only wish I had the extract as well.
Tom Ford Black Orchid is unisex (may be even more on the masculine side) and borderline niche. From beginning to the end, Tom Ford Black Orchid is complex, sensual, sophisticated, and reminiscent of a bygone era. If you’re weak and scared off by the eau de perfume label, then this is not for you.
Tom Ford Black Orchid was created by perfume creators of fragrance company Givaudan in 2006. It was announced as oriental chypre. The top notes are French jasmine, black truffle, ylang-ylang, black currant and effervescent citrus. In the floral-spicy heart, dwells the Tom Ford’s black orchid, imaginary more than real, and the base combines woodsy notes (patchouli and sandalwood), dark chocolate, incense, amber, vetiver, vanilla and balsam.
If Tom Ford Black Orchid was on the market in the 1960s for men, it would have been hailed as a classic and worn by many men today. Unfortunately for Tom Ford, this was advertised to the wrong people in the wrong era–but fortunately for the brave few, you may have found the perfect fragrance. It’s a scent with spice, and although it has vanille and chocolate, it never evolves into a gourmand (thank god!). It has a floral opening but quickly turns into something much darker and mysterious. This combination of notes is rare; and because of that, it’s not subtle. It’ll demand respect wherever you go. In my head, the man who wears Black Orchid is powerful without being intimating, mature (25+) but with a boyish charm (think George Clooney), and sure of himself minus the arrogance. He’s the type who owns his own tuxedo and reads philosophy for fun (but doesn’t tell anyone). Scent: 5/5 (amazing complexity; could be in private blends) Sillage: 4.5/5 Longevity: 4/5 (7 hours; only complaint, but for some it lasts 10 hours+) Overall: 4.5/5
Other classic perfumes that will wow you include; oud malaki , mancera Gold intensitive Aoud etc
REVIEWS
Jasmine, gardenia, orchid, and I thought tuberose, but I was wrong it seems. Sillage is good. It’s gorgeous, well worth a full bottle so you can reapply it again and again, because sillage is average.
